Protecting water resources
Safeguarding water for the future
We rely on water throughout our value chain as it generates more than 75% of energy in New Zealand, is essential to our operational sites, and fills 95% of our finished beer products.
We also recognise that sustainable use and protection of water resources today, is critical for the well-being of New Zealand tomorrow. We are committed to reducing our specific water consumption and to keeping local waterways healthy.
With reduction initiatives long embedded across our business, we’re well placed to reach our 2016 objective of 3.39hl or water per hectolitre of beer (or cider) produced.
For the first time in 2015, DB organised waterways clean ups at Otara Lake, Mangatainoka River and Otipua Wetlands (Redruth, Timaru) to align with the United Nations World Water Day.
